Beware of Classified Ad Fraud

  • Phone number listed in ad is wrong.
  • Buyer or seller explains that they are currently out of the country or outside the intermountain area (Extreme Outdoors Classifieds is a local service).
  • Buyer offers to pay with a money order or cashiers check for significantly more than the asked for price. Seller asks to have money wired to them or payed via an online service and states that the item will require delivery.
  • Buyer or seller requests unreasonable personal or financial information.
  • Ad or offer is poorly written, generic, or strange sounding.
  • Offer is simply too good to be true.
  • Buyer or Seller says that Extreme Outdoors will handle the transaction. Extreme Outdoors is NEVER involved in any transaction between buyer and seller. Anyone who claims otherwise is a scammer.

Great quote found on Facebook:
"One does not hunt in order to kill; on the contrary, one kills in order to have hunted... If one were to present the sportsman with the death of the animal as a gift he would refuse it. What he is after is having to win it, to conquer the surly brute through his own effort and skill with all the extras that this carries with it: the immersion in the countryside, the healthfulness of the exercise, the distraction from his job."
Jose Ortega y Gasset in "Meditations on Hunting"
